How much does a website cost for an electrician in the UK?
Updated 1 October 2026 · 5 minute read
Electricians get quoted anything from a free website builder to several thousand pounds. Here's what each option costs, and what an electrician's site actually needs, so you can tell a fair price from a padded one.
Prices at a glance
| Option | Typical cost | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Build it yourself (Wix Light) | £108 a year, paid yearly | Electricians with spare evenings who enjoy it |
| Freelance web designer | £1,500 to £3,000 for a small site | A custom site, if you can pay up front |
| Agency | £3,000 to £5,000 for a small site | Bigger firms with a marketing budget |
| Pay monthly | About £29 to £75 a month | Spreading the cost, if you read the contract |
Freelancer and agency ranges are from Whito's May 2026 research; pay-monthly prices are from providers' own pages. More detail in our website cost guide.
What an electrician's website needs
- An EICR page for landlords. Landlords in England must have their electrics inspected at least every five years and give tenants the report, so they search for EICRs regularly.
- Separate pages for the work you want: fault finding, consumer unit upgrades, rewires, lighting, EV chargers.
- Your registrations, such as NICEIC or NAPIT, on every page.
- Tap-to-call and WhatsApp on every page, because many customers ring from their phone.
- Your Google reviews and photos of real installations.
If a quote doesn't cover these, it's not a cheap website, it's an incomplete one.
How it compares with buying leads
Local Ladder's UK Trade Lead Cost Tracker (verified 30 September 2026) puts typical lead costs for trades at:
- Google Ads: £2.02 to £10.29 per top-of-page click on "electrician near me", whether or not they ring.
- MyBuilder: typically £5 to £35 per shortlist, non-refundable.
- Checkatrade: £30 a month (Approved) or from £59 a month (Growth), plus VAT, on 12-month contracts.
A website costs the same whether it brings in one job or fifty, and it makes every paid lead more likely to convert, because people check you out before they ring.
Red flags in a quote
- The domain registered in the designer's name, not yours.
- A long contract, with the site taken offline if you leave.
- "Guaranteed page one on Google".
- No chance to see the site before you pay in full.
Where we fit
We build electricians' websites for £199 once, including your domain and a year's hosting, then £50 a year from year two, with no contract. That's £299 over three years. Every site has pages for EICRs, consumer units and EV chargers if you do them, your registrations and your reviews, and we build it before you pay. See our websites for electricians.
See what yours would look like
We'll build a website for your business from your Google listing, free. You only pay £199 if you want to keep it.
