How much does Checkatrade cost for tradespeople in 2026?
Updated 1 October 2026 · 4 minute read
Checkatrade publishes three plans for trades, but what you actually pay can be more than the headline. Here's what each plan costs, how the contract works, and how to decide if it's worth it for you.
The plans
| Plan | Published price | What it includes (per Checkatrade) |
|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | A business profile page and review collection |
| Approved | £30 a month | The Checkatrade tick, review requests, job management tools and a directory listing |
| Growth | From £59 a month | Everything in Approved, plus direct customer booking, higher search placement and performance insights |
Checkatrade's pricing page doesn't say whether VAT is included. Local Ladder's UK Trade Lead Cost Tracker (verified 30 September 2026) lists both paid plans as plus VAT, so check before you sign.
What members actually pay
The same tracker reports that members describe real costs of £80 to £500 a month. "From £59" is a starting point: the price for your trade and area may be higher, so ask for a written quote.
The contract
Checkatrade's support pages say most memberships run on a fixed 12-month term and renew automatically every 12 months unless you cancel in your renewal window. You can't normally cancel part-way through, and cancelling the direct debit doesn't end the contract. See how to cancel Checkatrade.
Rated People leads now come through Checkatrade
Rated People's memberships ended in September 2026 and the brand was bought by Checkatrade Group on 18 September. Rated People says you can now only buy its leads by becoming a Checkatrade member.
Is it worth it?
It can be, if it brings in jobs you'd otherwise miss. To judge it fairly:
- Add up what you pay over the 12 months, including VAT.
- Count the jobs you actually win from it, not the enquiries.
- Divide one by the other to get your cost per job, and compare it with other sources.
Whatever you decide, have a website as well. Customers who find you on Checkatrade often look you up before they ring, and your own site is the one place you aren't listed next to competitors. Our guide on websites and Checkatrade explains how they fit together.
