Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy or Hostinger: which is cheapest for a trade website?
Updated 1 October 2026 · 5 minute read
Most tradespeople who want a cheap website end up looking at the same four names. Here's what each one really costs in the UK, including what happens when the first-year deals end.
The cheapest plan on each, side by side
These are the cheapest plans that let you use your own web address, such as yourname.co.uk.
| Builder and plan | Price | What you have to commit to | After the deal ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hostinger Premium | £2.99 a month | 48 months, paid up front (£143.52) | Renews at £10.99 a month |
| GoDaddy Basic | £7.99 a month | Paid yearly (£95.88). Paying monthly costs 52 to 60% more | Renewal price not published |
| Wix Light | £9 a month | Paid yearly (£108). £11.50 a month if you pay monthly | Can change at renewal; check your basket |
| Squarespace Basic | £12 a month | Paid yearly (£144). £16 a month if you pay monthly | Check the renewal price in your basket |
All four include a free domain for the first year only (on Squarespace, only with yearly billing). After that you pay to renew it. 123 Reg says most small businesses pay £8 to £15 a year for a domain once the introductory price ends, and ExpertSure puts GoDaddy's domain renewals at £13 to £20 a year.
What it costs over three years
| Option | Three years | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Hostinger Premium | £143.52 (covers four years) | Your domain from year two |
| Wix Light, paid yearly | £324 if the price doesn't change | Your domain from year two |
| Squarespace Basic, paid yearly | £432 if the price doesn't change | Your domain from year two |
| GoDaddy Basic, paid yearly | £95.88 for year one, then the renewal price | Your domain from year two |
| Hi-Vis Web | £299 | Nothing. The domain is included every year |
So if price is all that matters and you're happy to build the site yourself, Hostinger is the cheapest of these. The catch is that you pay four years in one go, and from year five it costs £10.99 a month.
The cost that isn't on the price list
With every builder above, you do the work: picking a template, writing every page, sorting your photos, setting up a contact form and checking it all works on a phone. For a trade website that means a page for each job you do, your areas written in, and your phone number and reviews where people can see them. Most people need a few evenings for a first version, and more to get it right.
Ask yourself what a few evenings are worth to you. If one job covers the difference, it may be cheaper to have someone else build it.
Things to check before you sign up
- The renewal price. Look at the price in your basket for year two, not just the headline deal.
- The contract length. The cheapest monthly price often needs a long term paid up front.
- Whose name the domain is in. It should be yours.
- Whether you can take the site with you. Sites built on Wix, Squarespace or GoDaddy's builder generally stay on that platform. If you leave, you start again.
Where we fit
We charge £199 once, then £50 a year from year two, with your domain included and no contract. That's £299 over three years. We build the whole site for you from your Google listing before you pay anything, with a page for each job you do and your reviews on every page. If you stop renewing, we send you the files. If you'd rather build it yourself, any of the four builders above will do the job.

We'll build a website for your business from your Google listing, free. You only pay £199 if you want to keep it.
