45.3% of trades in Leicester have no website on Google

We checked 1,386 trade listings on Google Maps within about 8 km of Leicester's centre. 45.3% have no website on their Google listing, and another 2.5% list only a Facebook or Instagram page.

What it means for Leicester trades
When someone in Leicester searches for a trade, the map shows a handful of businesses side by side. A listing with a website gives customers somewhere to check your work, your services and your reviews before they ring. Across the UK, listings without a website also tend to have fewer reviews, though that's a link, not proof that one causes the other.
How the figures were collected
Google Maps listings collected through the Serper Maps API between 24 and 28 September 2026, deduplicated by Google place ID, with shops, suppliers and hire firms excluded and each listing grouped by its primary Google category. "No website" means no website on the Google listing. Full method, limits and the UK-wide tables are on the main study page.
