SEO for joiners and carpenters: let your work get you found
Updated 1 October 2026 · 4 minute read
Joinery sells on what it looks like. Fitted wardrobes, staircases and kitchens are bought from photos long before anyone rings. Good SEO for a joiner is mostly about getting those photos in front of the right people.
The searches to aim for
"Carpenter near me" gets about 12,100 searches a month in the UK, and a top-of-page Google Ads click on it costs £1.50 to £10.61 (Local Ladder's UK Trade Lead Cost Tracker, September 2026). Many customers search for the piece rather than the trade, though: "fitted wardrobes", "alcove shelving", "oak staircase". Those searches are where a joiner with the right pages can stand out.
1. A page for each type of work
- Fitted wardrobes and alcove units
- Kitchens
- Staircases
- Internal doors and skirting
- Flooring
Each page should show photos of that work, the woods and finishes you use, and how a job runs from measuring to fitting.
2. Photos, then more photos
Customers judge joinery with their eyes. Put your best photos on each service page, a gallery of finished work, and a page for standout projects (with the customer's permission and never their address). Google lists photos and videos among the ways to show customers what you offer, so add them to your Google profile regularly too.
3. Your Google Business Profile
- Pick the main category that fits the work you want most, such as Carpenter or Joiner, if Google offers it as you type.
- Verify it and fill in your areas, services, hours and website. Google says complete and accurate info makes you more likely to show in local results.
- Keep the name exactly as you trade.
4. Make it easy to send photos
A "send photos for a guide price" button on WhatsApp lets customers show you the alcove or the stairs straight away. It saves a wasted visit and wins the job from joiners who make people wait for a quote.
5. Reviews and the basics
Google says more reviews and positive ratings can help local ranking. Ask every customer at the end of the job, with your review link (see how to get more Google reviews). Behind the scenes: clear page titles such as "Fitted wardrobes in Sale | Your Business Name", photos that load quickly, and the same name, number and area everywhere.
