Who we are

Hi-Vis Web builds websites for tradespeople and is the data controller for the information described here. We're based in Manchester. You can contact us at hello@hivisweb.co.uk or on 07876 772311.

What we collect

• What you give us in the preview form: your name, mobile number, business name, trade, town or postcode, and whether you have a web address.
• Information your business already publishes: for example your Google Business listing (name, services, area, opening hours, rating and review count). We use this to build your preview.
• Photos and details you send us if you decide to go ahead.

Why we use it

• To build your preview website and send you the link.
• To contact you about that preview and, if you go ahead, to set up, host and look after your website.

We rely on our legitimate interest in offering our service to businesses, and on taking steps at your request before entering a contract with you. We don't sell your details, and we don't use them for anything else.

Who we share it with

Only the providers we need to run the service, such as our website hosting provider (Netlify), the domain registrar we use to register your web address, and Google Analytics if you accept analytics cookies. They process it on our behalf.

How long we keep it

If you don't go ahead, we delete your details and your preview within 12 months. If you become a customer, we keep what we need for as long as we host your website, and for as long as the law requires for our accounts.

Cookies

This site only uses analytics cookies if you say yes. When you accept, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and buttons people use, so we can improve the site. It sets cookies starting with _ga that last up to 2 years. If you choose "No thanks", Google Analytics isn't loaded at all.

We remember your choice in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) so we don't ask again. Change your cookie choice.

Visit counting

Separately from Google Analytics, we count visits to this website, and to the example and preview websites we make for businesses, without cookies. For each page view we record the page, the time, the website that sent you (if any), whether you're on a phone or a computer, and your country. We don't record your IP address or anything else that identifies you. For a preview website we've made for a particular business, it tells us that the preview was opened. We use this only to see how our websites are used and to follow up on previews we've sent.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, including your preview website. Just email us. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
