How much does a website cost for a gas engineer in the UK?
Updated 1 October 2026 · 4 minute read
A boiler install can be worth thousands, so a website that wins even one extra a year pays for itself many times over. Here's what it should cost, and what it needs to do.
What the options cost
| Option | Typical cost | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| DIY builder (Wix Light) | £108 a year, paid yearly | You build and write it all |
| Freelancer | £1,500 to £3,000 | Usually paid up front |
| Agency | £3,000 to £5,000 | Extras often add 30 to 50% |
| Pay monthly | About £29 to £75 a month | Often a 12-month contract; you may not own it |
Freelancer, agency and extras figures are from Whito's May 2026 research. See our website cost guide for sources and pay-monthly examples.
What a gas engineer's site must have
- Your Gas Safe registration on every page. By law, anyone working on gas appliances must be registered, and customers check.
- A breakdown page with your number at the top, for the customer who's cold right now.
- A new boiler page with the brands you fit and photos of installs, for the customer comparing quotes.
- Servicing and landlord pages. HSE guidance says landlords must have a gas safety check done every year on each gas appliance and flue, so landlords search for this regularly.
- Heat pumps, if you fit them. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £7,500 towards an air source or ground source heat pump in England and Wales, and customers search for it.
- Reviews and WhatsApp on every page.
Compared with paying for leads
Local Ladder's UK Trade Lead Cost Tracker (verified 30 September 2026) puts MyBuilder shortlists at typically £5 to £35 each, non-refundable, and Bark leads at roughly £9 to £36 or more. Checkatrade costs £30 a month (Approved) or from £59 a month (Growth), plus VAT, on 12-month contracts. A website doesn't charge per lead, and it reassures the people those leads send you before they ring.
Where we fit
We build gas engineers' websites for £199 once, with your domain and a year's hosting, then £50 a year from year two and no contract. That's £299 over three years. Every site separates "my boiler's broken" from "I need a new boiler", shows your Gas Safe details and has servicing and landlord pages. We build it before you pay. See our websites for gas engineers.
