Garden maintenance: your questions answered
How often should a garden be maintained?
Most gardens do well with a visit every one to two weeks in the growing season and monthly in winter. Smaller or low-maintenance gardens may need less. We'll suggest a schedule that suits yours.
When can hedges be cut?
Avoid cutting hedges in the main bird nesting season, roughly March to August, unless you've checked there are no active nests. Disturbing an active nest is an offence. Late summer and autumn are good times for a main trim.
Can you tidy an overgrown garden?
Yes. A one-off clearance cuts back overgrowth, clears weeds and rubbish, and gets the lawn and borders back in shape. It's a good starting point before regular maintenance or a redesign.
