What we do
Plastering, inside and out.
From a single cracked ceiling to a full house of fresh walls after a rewire.
Skimming
A thin new finish over sound walls. The usual answer to cracks, old wallpaper damage and tired rooms.
Re-plastering
Blown or crumbling plaster hacked off back to brick, then bonded and finished. Common after damp or a rewire.
Ceilings & artex
Cracked ceilings boarded or skimmed, and artex covered with a smooth finish so it never needs sanding.
Rendering
Sand and cement or through-coloured render on outside walls, extensions and garden walls. Best done in dry weather.
Coving
Plain or decorative coving fitted with tight mitres, filled and ready for the decorator.
Dry lining & boarding
Plasterboard on walls, ceilings and stud walls, taped or skimmed. We work alongside builders on extensions.

Questions
Good to know before we start.
How long before I can paint new plaster?
It depends on the room, the heating and the weather. New plaster dries from dark pink to an even pale pink. Once there are no darker patches, it's ready for a mist coat of watered-down emulsion, then your normal paint.
Can you plaster over artex?
Usually, yes. We seal it and skim over the top, so nothing gets sanded. Artex from before the year 2000 can contain asbestos, so we never sand or scrape it, and we'll suggest a test if it needs removing.
Do I need to empty the room?
It helps if small things are moved out. Big furniture can go in the middle of the room and we'll sheet it. Let us know what's staying and we'll plan round it.
Skim or re-plaster: which do I need?
If the old plaster is firmly stuck to the wall, a skim is usually enough. If it sounds hollow when you tap it, or it's crumbling, it needs taking off and re-doing. We'll check and tell you straight.

A picture of the wall or ceiling is usually enough for a first idea. We'll come and look before giving a final price.
