What we build

Brickwork, big and small

One wall in a back garden or the shell of an extension. Same care with the line, the joints and the clean-up.

Garden walls

New walls, curved walls, piers and copings. Built on a proper footing so they stay straight.

Repointing

Old mortar raked out and repointed in a colour and joint to match. Stops the damp getting in.

Extensions & new builds

Facing brick and blockwork for builders and homeowners, from footings to wall plate.

Brick repairs

Cracked, blown or frost-damaged bricks cut out and replaced, with reclaimed bricks where it helps them blend.

Chimney rebuilds

Leaning or crumbling stacks taken down and rebuilt, new pots and flaunching on top.

Blockwork

Inner leaves, garages and retaining walls. Laid level and plumb for whoever comes next.

Design your wall. We'll price it.

Pick the job, the bond and the joint. See it build in front of you, then send it over. A rough size is fine, we'll measure properly.

Why Coursework

You'll see the difference up close

Laid to a line

String line on every course. Level, plumb and gauged, so the wall looks right from the end.

Bricks that match

We hunt down the right brick, new or reclaimed, so repairs don't stick out.

Joints done properly

The right mortar for the brick. Soft lime for old houses, never hard cement on soft bricks.

Your place kept clean

Boards down on the lawn, the drive washed off, and nothing left behind.

Questions

Asked over the garden wall

How do I know if my walls need repointing?

Run a key along a joint. If the mortar crumbles out, or there are gaps you can see into, it's time. Damp patches inside on an outside wall are another sign.

Can you match my old bricks?

Usually, yes. Send us a close-up photo in daylight. We'll find a new brick that blends or track down reclaimed ones, and bring samples before we start.

Do you take on small jobs?

Yes. A few blown bricks, a short run of pointing or a pier for a gate are all worth a call. Small jobs often fit around bigger ones.

Can you build in winter?

We can't lay bricks in frost, as the mortar won't set right. In cold spells we move to indoor and repair work and come back when it's mild.

Do I need permission for a garden wall?

Low walls usually don't. Walls next to a road, or higher ones elsewhere, may need planning permission. We'll tell you if yours is likely to, before you commit.
